Well, well
I returned from my holidays last week :) I went to Spain and Italy and I could have a taste of travelling again. My husband came from Brazil and I could enjoy his company for almost one month - wonderful.
During the journey I could test some mobile equipments as audio guides and video guides, some give emphasis to history and point of view of main researchers of the field (boring ones), other to details of masterpieces (very interesting ones), and also I have tried a video guide at Coliseum the videos were very well done but so long that distracted us from the surrounding. It was a sunny day, then I had to find a shadow and sit to see the screen. Moreover, you could choose to follow the linear tour or to make your tour (seeing what you want). I chose the first just to see how it works and I had to give up. So complicated it was! It was difficult to localize myself on the system and I had to consult the map every time (the physical and the digital one). Other comments about it http://mam5099.blogspot.com/2008/06/coliseum-video-guide-vs-audio-guide.html
I think It was a great experience as a researcher, but not as a tourist.
Ps. Just to let you know I am a member of Interactive Technologies Research Group - http://www.it.bton.ac.uk/itrg-blog/ We have a blog now :)
